The Simple Ophthalmic Issue Exam (SOPHIE) is a tool used to provide a provisional diagnosis for common red eye disorders. If you woke up one morning and your eye is red, painful, or swollen, answer a couple of questions and this program will help you get a general idea of what the diagnosis and treatment could be.
This program was developed by an optometrist who has experience treating various anterior segment diseases. New optometrists and optometry students will find this tool extremely useful when narrowing down potential diagnoses. Although the program was created by an eye care provider, many conditions present differently so the program’s accuracy is not guaranteed.
